‘Adventures in Poetry Film’ screening, Chippenham, 2 August 2018

Come along to the Old Road Tavern in Chippenham, Wiltshire on Thursday 2nd August for the first of what we hope will be several screenings by the Poetry Film Collective.

The Collective was set up in early 2018 as a six-month project funded by Arts Council England to explore how people from different artistic backgrounds might approach poetry film-making. We are all poets. Some of us are also performers, film-makers, musicians and visual artists. All of us have made a poetry film and we’d love to share them with you!

Frome Festival Poet Laureate 2018

I’m very chuffed indeed to have won the title of Frome Festival Poet Laureate 2018 at last night’s Frome Poetry Cafe open mic!

Big appreciation to Crysse Morrison for organising and hosting a warm and wonderful evening of poems on the theme of Mary Shelley’s classic character, Frankenstein’s monster, and enormous thanks to guest poet and judge, the very funny and entertaining Rob Barratt.

Here’s a couple of pics.

Poem in The Emma Press Book of Beasts

The latest anthology from The Emma Press is out now, edited by Anja Konig and Liane Strauss. Some Cannot Be Caught: The Emma Press Book of Beasts “rustles and roars with the voices of animals and humans, co-existing on earth with varying degrees of harmony. A scorpion appears in a shower; a deer jumps in front of a car. A swarm of snowfleas seethes through leaf litter; children bait a gorilla at the zoo. The poems in this anthology examine hierarchy, herds, power, and the price we pay for belonging.”

There’s also one of mine, ‘The Fish Without a Bicycle’.
